One of the liveliest bunch of rodders on the show circuit; Watford Rods was originally formed in the early '70's and then known as Watford Rod and Custom Club. The name didn't change until the mid '80's. We meet every Thursday night at the Croxley Guild of Sports club house in Croxley Green where we talk cars.
We welcome anyone along whether they have a Rod, are building one or are just interested in them. During the year we try to attend as many of the shows and drag racing meets as possible, which gives us a good excuse to talk more cars and drink more beer. Most of our members do actually have cars, here are most of the pictures, (we still have a few to track down pictures of).
Whilst out at shows we have a few songs which we sing along to, here are our modified lyrics.
Our annual show is held at the Chorleywood House grounds just of J18 of the M25 on the first May Bank Holiday Monday. Top 10 trophies are awarded.
We have some honorary members in New Zealand - Andrew and Angela 'The Kiwis' from Northshore Rod & Custom Club - Auckland. Andrew owns a '39 Ford sedan Taxi powered by a small-block Chevy which runs 12 second quarters; and Angela owns a'71 Pontiac Le-Mans which has just undergone a re-build.
Love and kisses, Watford Rods
